EXPECTATIONS
PERFORMER EXPECTATIONS
The following document contains a list of responsibilities and expectations for performers taking part in 1) A Penny & Pound MainStage Production or 2) Any class or event hosted by Penny & Pound Theatre Productions.
Failure to comply with such expectations may lead to loss of privileges or expulsion from said production, class, or event.

REHEARSAL and PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
1) Performers are required to attend all scheduled rehearsals, unless the absence has previously been approved by The Creative Team at least two weeks before the rehearsal(s). In case of illness or emergency, performers are expected to contact The Creative Team via email (pennyandpoundtheatre@gmail.com) or phone (519-781-5275) prior to the rehearsal.
2) If a performer misses a maximum of three rehearsals without just cause (illness with a doctor's note, approved conflict), they will be removed from the production.
3) Performers are asked to respect the space in which we perform and rehearse. Any sign of disorder or disrespect towards said spaces (ie vandalism, disarray, etc.) is strictly prohibited.
4) Performers are required to arrive at rehearsals and performances on time. In case of late arrival, performers are expected to alert The Creative Team via email or phone.
5) Performers are asked to respect rental materials (ie scripts, scores) as well as costumes, properties and set pieces. As a result of damage done to any materials during the production process, performers may be requested to reimburse Penny & Pound or other related groups.
6) Performers are prohibited from arriving to rehearsals, classes or performances under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Any sign of inebriation will lead to immediate expulsion from the production.
7) Performers are asked to depart rehearsals, classes and performances at the scheduled end time. Please ensure that reliable transportation is readily available by the end of rehearsals, classes and performances.
8) Performers are required to take all rehearsal, class and performance responsibilities seriously. Lack of commitment or respect may lead to expulsion from the class or production.
9) Performers are required to comply with all public health and safety protocols and procedures. This may include screening, testing and self-evaluation.
TOLERANCE
1) Penny & Pound Theatre Productions prides ourselves on being a safe space to create art. Harassment of any kind towards members of the cast, creative team, staff, volunteer team or public (including, but not limited to: verbal aggression, physical aggression, racism, homophobia, transphobia, misogyny, ableism, prejudice, etc.) will lead to immediate expulsion from the production.
2) Sexual or unwanted advances (verbal, physical, or in-print) towards members of the cast, creative team, staff, volunteer team or public will lead to investigation and may result in immediate expulsion from the production. For more information, please see our Workplace Harassment Policy.
3) Performers are NOT permitted to drink alcohol or use illicit drugs while on site for Penny & Pound rehearsals, performances and classes. Failure to comply will result in immediate expulsion.
4) Performers are asked to refrain from using vulgar language and inappropriate humour while on site for Penny & Pound rehearsals, classes and performances. In addition, any clothing that features offensive slogans or graphics, including outer wear, will result in the performer being sent home until the situation can be rectified.
STAFF, CREATIVES and VOLUNTEER EXPECTATIONS
The following document contains a list of responsibilities and expectations for staff, creatives and volunteers taking part in 1) A Penny & Pound MainStage Production or 2) Any class or event hosted by Penny & Pound Theatre Productions.
Failure to comply with such expectations may lead to loss of privileges or expulsion from said production, class, or event.

1) Staff and creatives are required to create a well-organized call to action for each rehearsal, class, production or event. This includes a clear schedule, a respect for the performers' time and a clear and concise directional view.
2) Staff and creatives are required to ensure that all performers, crew members and volunteers feel respected, seen and safe during rehearsals, classes, productions and events.
3) Staff and creatives are required to give equal guidance, attention and care to all performers, crew and volunteer team.
4) Staff and creatives are required to create a clear understanding of what is required of performers, crew and volunteers to help ensure a successful production, class or event.
5) Staff, creatives and volunteers are required to respect both the rehearsal and performance venues, as well as costumes, properties, set pieces and rental materials belonging to Penny & Pound and/or other groups.
6) Staff and creatives are required to cast performers appropriately. This includes, but is not limited to: casting performers of the proper ethnicity, gender-identity, etc. in roles that call for such.
7) Staff, creatives and volunteers are required to ensure that all performers, crew, volunteers and public are in a safe space while attending a Penny & Pound event or class, performing, and rehearsing. In the event that the venue or location is deemed unsafe, additional action will be taken. The performers, crew, volunteers and/or public may be removed from the area as soon as it is deemed safe to do so.
8) Staff, creatives and volunteers will ensure that all costumes are clean and readily prepared for the performers' use.
9) Staff and creatives are required to create a clear call to action in the event of harassment or workplace violence. Failure to comply with such standards OR in the event that a member of the company makes a performer, crew member, volunteer or member of the public feel unsafe or uncomfortable, said company representative will be reprimanded and may be removed from the company.
10) Staff and creatives are required to take complaints from performers, crew, volunteers and members of the public seriously. In the event of a formal complaint, members of the staff and Creative Team will schedule a confidential meeting to review and rectify the situation.
11) Staff and creatives are required to create a clear call to action in regards to public healthy and safety. All staff, creatives and volunteers are required to follow all rules put in place by The Region of Waterloo.
12) Staff, creatives and volunteers are required to ensure that all performers feel safe and comfortable in costumes, as well as when handling any properties or taking part in blocking/choreography/etc. In the event that a performer feels they are unsafe, those in charge must rectify the situation immediately.
13) Staff, creatives and volunteers are NOT permitted to attend rehearsals, performances, classes or events under the influence of alcohol or illicit drugs. Any sign of inhibition will lead to immediate expulsion.
