SHOW SYNOPSIS
When Wendy Darling and her brothers are whisked away from their London nursery by the mysterious and mischievous Peter Pan, they find themselves soaring over the rooftops and into the magical world of Neverland. There, they encounter a band of Lost Boys, a clever fairy named Tinker Bell, a fearsome pirate captain, and a crocodile with an unfortunate appetite. But as Wendy begins to discover, Neverland isn’t simply a place where children never grow up—it is a place where growing up, letting go, and finding your way home become impossible to avoid. Filled with adventure, humour, magic, and original music, Peter Pan: A New Musical Adventure reimagines the beloved story for a new generation, exploring the courage it takes to grow up without losing the wonder of being a child.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO AUDITION?
PETER PAN is open to performers ages 8+
No experience necessary. Penny & Pound Theatre is committed to offering diverse and equitable theatre to all. We highly encourage full participation from performers who identify as IBPOC, 2SLGBTQIA++, disAbled as well as those of all body types, societal and economic backgrounds and religious beliefs! We are committed to meeting the needs and expectations of all those who participate in our productions.
WHAT TO PREPARE
We ask all auditionees to prepare a Broadway-style song, 1-2 minutes in length. Please bring along an instrumental track and reliable device to play it on. There is no accompanist on staff at auditions.
Auditionees may also be asked to read an excerpt from the script.
DANCE CALL
If interested, performers may also take part in a short Dance Call held by our Choreographer. Dance Calls will happen once every hour, and last approximately 10 minutes.
VIDEO AUDITIONS
If you are unable to attend the audition dates, you are welcome to send in a video audition instead. Please send a Google Drive or YouTube link of your video to pennyandpoundtheatre@gmail.com by SATURDAY, OCTOBER 3rd at 11:59 PM.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Please arrive at your audition 10-15 minutes prior to your scheduled time, in order to fill out paperwork. A member of our team will be there to answer any questions you may have! When you enter the audition room, you will be greeted by the DIRECTOR, MUSICAL DIRECTOR, CHOREOGRAPHER and PRODUCER. You will be asked to perform your piece, and are welcome to ask any questions you may have about the process! Parents/guardians and support persons are welcome to join us in the audition room as well.
SHOW FEE
In order to participate in either PETER PAN, performers are asked to pay a show fee of $80. This fee covers the costs of producing high-quality theatrical productions, and DOES NOT pay the Creative Team. If you require a payment plan, we would be happy to discuss the options. All those who pay the fee receive the following:
- 1 complimentary ticket to the show
- A professional-quality headshot
- A bound copy of the script
There is no fee to audition. Show fees are only requested if you are cast.

CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS
PETER PAN | Acting Age: 16-18 | Boy Soprano/Alto | Gender: Non-Specific
The boy who refuses to grow up. Fearless, mischievous, charming, and impulsive, Peter lives for adventure—but beneath his confidence is a deep fear of change and growing older.
ADULT WENDY | Acting Age: 40-50 | Mezzo-Soprano | Gender: Femme/Female
Wendy Darling as a wise adult woman. She yearns for the time she spent in Neverland.
WENDY DARLING | Acting Age: 14-16 | Mezzo-Soprano | Gender: Femme/Female
Imaginative, compassionate, and fiercely curious, Wendy longs for adventure but is beginning to feel the pull of adulthood. In Neverland, she discovers that growing up doesn’t mean giving up who you are.
JOHN DARLING | Acting Age: 12-14 | Boy Soprano | Gender: Masculine/Male
Wendy’s clever and proper younger brother. John loves adventure and fancies himself a great explorer, though his imagination sometimes gets the better of him.
MICHAEL DARLING | Acting Age: 8-11 | Boy Soprano | Gender: Masculine/Male
The youngest Darling child. Sweet, energetic, and endlessly imaginative, Michael sees the magic in everything and approaches Neverland with wide-eyed wonder.
CAPTAIN JAMES HOOK | Acting Age: 35+ | Baritone | Gender: Masculine/Male
The flamboyant and fearsome pirate captain of the Jolly Roger. Dramatic, vain, and determined to defeat Peter Pan, Hook is every bit the villain—but perhaps not quite as terrifying as he thinks he is.
SMEE | Acting Age: 25+ | Tenor | Gender: Masculine/Male
Hook’s devoted right-hand man. Cheerful, bumbling, and lovable, Smee is more interested in keeping the peace than being a proper pirate.
THE LOST CHILDREN (SLIGHTY, NIBS, TOOTLES, BINKY, THE TWINS, CRICKET, PIPKIN, TWIG, BOOTS)

A spirited gang of children who live in Neverland and follow Peter on his adventures. Mischievous, loyal, competitive, and endlessly imaginative, they are a family of their own.
THE PIRATE CREW (SALTY SAM, FISH FACE, RUSTY, SCRAPS, BILLIAM, CROOKED JACK)

The rowdy crew of the Jolly Roger. A larger-than-life ensemble of sailors who are fiercely loyal to Hook—or at least afraid enough to pretend they are.

Wendy, John, and Michael’s loving mother. Warm, graceful, and protective, she understands that her children will eventually grow up—but hopes they never lose their sense of wonder.
MR. DARLING | Acting Age: 35-55 | Baritone | Gender: Masculine/Male
The Darling children’s eccentric and somewhat pompous father. He loves his family deeply, even when his seriousness and temper get the better of him.
TINKERBELL | Acting Age: 8-10 | Non-Speaking | Gender: Femme/Female
Peter’s fiercely loyal fairy companion. Jealous, fiery, mischievous, and surprisingly brave, Tinker Bell may be tiny—but she has a very big personality.
TIGER LILY | Acting Age: 18-25 | Mezzo-Soprano | Gender: Femme/Female | Indigenous
Strong, courageous, and fiercely protective of her home. Tiger Lily is a natural leader who refuses to be intimidated by pirates or anyone else who threatens Neverland.
NOTE: Tiger Lily is an Indigenous character, and we are committed to approaching her and her community with care, respect, and cultural sensitivity. We recognize that the original Peter Pan contains outdated and harmful stereotypes about Indigenous peoples, and our production will not seek to reproduce those portrayals. Our goal is to reimagine Tiger Lily as a strong, capable, and fully realized character while treating Indigenous culture and identity with dignity.
THE MERMAIDS (OCEANE, CORAL, MARINA) | Acting Age: 16-25 | Soprano | Gender: Femme/Female
Mysterious, playful, and unpredictable inhabitants of Neverland. They are enchanting, theatrical, and not always as friendly as they first appear.
